BIRTHDAY FUN

My staff began my birthday celebration with my favorite cake, Diamond Head Torte from Diamond Head Bakery.  It's a chocolate cookie crust with peanut butter cream, chocolate dobash and fresh banana filling topped with whipped cream.

For lunch, Charles took me to my favorite brunch restaurant, Koko Head Cafe.  Chef Lee Ann Wong from the Cooking Channel was there and gave me a poppy muffin with birthday candle.  My favorite dish is the Elvis Revenge which is a tempura banana and peanut butter served with millionaire bacon on a sweet bread roll.
I was taken to a new restaurant for dinner, The Pig and the Lady, located downtown Honolulu.  These Beignets were so fluffy and dusted with porcini mushroom powder.  I also loved the pig jowls.

OSCAR PARTY 2015

As is tradition, I hosted another Oscar Party.  The movies we showcased were the Grand Budapest Hotel, the Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, and Selma.
The stage was set using mini movie posters.

CHEF ZONE

I found a new store called Chef Zone by the Honolulu Airport.  It is for restaurants and is like a mini Costco with only food and restaurant supplies.  The prices are really good and membership was free. I think I need to get a meat slicer now.

HAWAII FOODBANK GOLF INVITATIONAL 2015

Here is Team Waikiki Beach Marriott #1 and #2 with Hawaii Foodbank volunteers.  I was the chair for this year's golf tournament, which was another successful golf tournament.  We raised over $40,000 for the Hawaii Foodbank which makes it so worthwhile. My team won a cooler filled with beach towels, sun visors and all kinds of stuff.  My teammate, Stephen, won the 2 night stay at Disney's Aulani Resort.  We even had airline tickets from United Airlines.  Great prizes, food and fun.  April 18 is the state wide food drive.

VALENTINE'S DAY 2015

I've been behind on my postings, but wanted to share my Valentine's Day treats.  I make chocolate cookie hearts and strawberry cream cupcakes this year.  I tried a double bag of frosting to get the two tone effect.

PAUL MARTIN'S AMERICAN GRILL

While I was in Los Angles for a meeting, we went to Paul Martin's American Grill for dinner.  The boast to use fresh ingredients.  The Butternut Soup was thick, creamy and delicious.  My entree was a grilled salmon which was somewhat dry.  The signature Banana Cream Pie dessert was okay.  I've had better in Honolulu.
